Rachel Davis - A Day in the Life Interview
Rachel started at pep as a Sourcing Specialist for Print as one of the original members of our internal Sourcing team. She’s now in a Sourcing Lead role responsible for setting strategy, building strong internal and external relationships, and partnering with our client services team to drive our client’s business forward with smart marketing operations. Rachel gives us more insight into her background and current role.
How have you been able to bring your experience and expertise into your current role?
- My past work experiences in project and print production management has helped me understand our business from the client services and sourcing perspective. This dual perspective helps to build and maintain relationships between our suppliers and our pep team
What advice do you have for anyone considering a career in sourcing or procurement?
- Sourcing is more than bidding out jobs to our suppliers and getting a “good price”. It involves understanding and executing strategies that help drive company revenue along with servicing the needs of our clients and the pep team members who support them.
You’ve helped lead our Supplier Diversity initiatives, how can having a supplier base that includes MBEs, WBEs, and VOBs drive stronger business results?
- Partnering with Diverse Business Enterprises within our supply base can break up the status quo, which can lead to more innovative solutions. We have been successful in pep's DBE partnerships by aligning with DBE’s offering quality goods and services, while still acquiring competitive pricing.
What does being client-obsessed mean to you?
"Client-obessed means meeting the needs of our clients while providing innovative and economical solutions to help drive their business to the next level."
